About
The beet moth, Scrobipalpa ocellatella (Boyd) (Lepidoptera, Gelechiidae), along with other pests, poses a growing threat to the future of sugar beet cultivation. Increasingly frequent periods of dry, warm weather favor its development and spread. To combat the beet moth, the RüMoRes project is gathering essential knowledge about the insect’s biology and occurrence, as well as testing the resistance of beta-beets to the pest. In addition to identifying the resistance levels of various beet varieties and species, studies on the influence of air pressure on the activity and infestation by the beet moth are presented. This data can be used to determine the optimal timing for the application of plant protection measures.
