The WSC Agrar is a compact, robust weather station for recording local weather data directly in the field. Based on the tried-and-tested Thies CLIMA device concept of the WSC series, it has been specially developed for applications in smart farming, precision farming and digital agricultural systems. The station measures temperature, humidity, wind direction and speed as well as global radiation and brightness. A unique feature is the precise recording of precipitation intensity with the THERMACERN® sensor - without a collecting vessel. The WSC Agrar also records air pressure, wetting status, GPS position data and soil moisture. Soil moisture sensors from other suppliers can also be integrated via the SDI-12 interface.
Bluetooth and mobile communications (LTE-M, NB-IoT, GPRS) are available for data transmission. The weather data can be incorporated into cloud solutions and integrated into digital farm management systems or OEM platforms via MQTT or RESTful API. Flexible interfaces and protocols support simple integration into agricultural machinery, software solutions or sensor networks.
The WSC Agrar is offered either as a pure OEM component for integration into existing systems or as an extended system solution. The latter also includes a measuring mast with ground anchor and a self-sufficient power supply via solar panel and battery charging unit. Thanks to the modular design, different housing variants and customer-specific adaptations are possible. The WSC Agrar provides precise local weather data as a basis for forecasting models, irrigation planning, crop protection strategies and risk management - and supports manufacturers, integrators and platform providers in the digitalization of agricultural processes.
